Why You Might Be Considering FUE Hair Restoration

When deciding whether or not to pursue measures such as FUE hair restoration, it is helpful to have a good knowledge base of the types of hair loss and the causes behind them. Keep in mind that, as pointed out on Boldsky, it is absolutely normal to lose 80 - “100 strands of hair per day. Hair loss beyond that, though, may fall under one of the following categories. Hereditary Causes The most common type of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, per NYU Langone Health's article on the subject. Hereditary factors cause this form of hair loss. It is more widely known as male or female pattern hair loss. In men, androgenetic alopecia can result in baldness. Typically, it begins at the temples and proceeds from there, often causing patients to seek out men's hair loss treatment. In women, androgenetic alopecia only rarely results in baldness, but the hair thins throughout the scalp area. Alopecia Areata and Alopecia Barbae Alopecia areata can cause hair to fall out all over the body. As an autoimmune condition, it triggers an attack on the body's healthy tissues by the immune system. Eventually, this problem may cause complete hair loss, known as alopecia totalis. A specific form of alopecia areata - ”known as alopecia barbae - ”attacks the beard, per Healthline. Involutional Alopecia Involutional alopecia, according to WebMD, occurs naturally with age. As people grow older, "more hair follicles go into the resting phase," resulting in thinner hair overall. Traction Alopecia and Trichotillomania Traction alopecia has damaging hairstyles, such as ponytails that are overly tight, as its underlying cause. Meanwhile, trichotillomania occurs when people pull their hair out. Anagen and Telogen Effluvium Telogen effluvium is a type of hair loss that is driven by medical conditions such as fever, childbirth, or surgery. It can also be caused by mineral deficiencies or certain medications. Anagen effluvium, meanwhile, is a result of medical treatment, often chemotherapy.
