FUE Vs. Strip Harvesting Hair Transplants FUE Vs. Strip Harvesting Hair Transplants

The increase in marketing and interest in San Jose's bald treatment has created a good deal of confusion.

If you are dealing with hair loss and want to do something about it, you might be unsure about the different methods of hair transplants available.

There are two common approaches for San Jose hair restoration surgery the strip harvesting method FUT (follicular unit transplantation)  and FUE (follicular unit extraction).

Here is what you need to know about both so that you can make an informed choice.

Strip Harvesting Hair Transplants

Until recently, strip harvesting was the most widely used way to treat baldness with a hair transplant procedure.

The process involves taking thousands of hair follicles at once from the donor's scalp in a strip. The strip is removed, and the physician closes the incision with stitches.

The scar left behind will vary in size and length depending on how many follicles are required for the transplant. The benefit of strip harvesting is that a large number of follicles can be harvested in a short period.

However, there is generally an extended recovery time, and the potential for complications (bleeding, infection, pain) from the scarring are real concern with this type of hair restoration treatment.

FUE Hair Restoration Procedures

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is an amazing procedure when performed correctly by an experienced hair transplant doctor.

This more modern type of hair restoration involves the removal of individual hair follicles from the sides and back of the scalp with a specialized tool that precisely separates the follicles from the skin.

With an FUE Hair Transplant procedure, the surgeon can choose which follicles they will harvest, which isn't possible with strip harvesting.

This way, you can get the follicles with more hair per follicle and often achieve a better result. Even better, there is no linear scar and less pain with recovery from this procedure.

FUE vs. Strip Harvesting

If you are questioning which hair restoration is better, FUE or strip harvesting, the answer will depend on the experience of your surgeon.

A hair restoration surgeon who has extensive experience with FUE can give you a better result with fewer negative effects.

There is typically less discomfort after an FUE procedure because it doesn't require sutures like strip harvesting.

Instead, there are just tiny holes where your scalp donated individual follicles, and these close up overnight. Minimal scarring is possible with FUE, but it isn't likely to be visible or bothersome.

FUE is the more labor-intensive procedure and costly of the two simply because the surgeon removes each hair follicle individually.

As long as you are willing to commit to a longer session or several sessions, you will achieve a better overall result than with strip harvesting.
